No1 Lounge Luton

Luton Airport

No1 Lounge

The transformation of the lounge at London Luton Airport from Clubrooms to No1 Lounge was approached with a strong focus on reuse and sustainability. The existing lighting infrastructure was carefully assessed, allowing the complete lighting control system to be retained and reused alongside the existing linear lighting and downlights in the ceiling. In total, more than 50% of the lighting installation was retained, significantly reducing the amount of new equipment required while making effective use of the existing scheme.

Where the refreshed interior called for additional lighting, new elements were carefully integrated into the design, providing subtle layers of illumination while enhancing the architectural features and finishes. The new joinery lighting was designed to work seamlessly alongside the retained linear and downlight fittings, creating a cohesive and balanced lighting environment throughout the lounge.

Working closely with No1 Lounges, the architects, interior designers and wider project team, we developed a lighting scheme that supports the new No1 identity while maximising the value of the existing installation. By completely reusing the lighting control system and retaining key elements of the architectural lighting, the project demonstrates how a lounge can be successfully transformed through a considered and resource-conscious approach, delivering a refreshed passenger experience without unnecessary replacement of existing infrastructure.
